Fee Promise
Last updated: April 2026
We think creator platforms use fees as a trap. You build an audience, the fee goes up, and moving costs you months. Facet is a creator site, not a trap. This page tells you exactly what we promise and exactly what we do not.
1. The Promise
For as long as you remain on your current Facet Cloud plan, Facet's own platform fee on your content sales will not exceed:
- Starter — 0%. No Facet platform fee on content sales (content sales are not a Starter feature at time of writing).
- Pro — 5%. Facet takes 5% of content-sale gross on the Pro plan.
- Creator — 1%. Facet takes 1% of content-sale gross on the Creator plan.
If you remain on the Pro or Creator plan you originally signed up for, those numbers cannot go up, ever. If you switch plans, the new plan's current rate applies. We may introduce new plans with different rates in the future, but those changes do not apply to your existing plan.
2. What the Promise Does Not Cover
Three different fee layers can touch a content sale. We control only one of them. We will not promise numbers we do not control.
- Facet's platform fee (covered by this promise). The 0% / 5% / 1% numbers above. Facet sets these. Facet commits to them.
- Stripe payment processor fees (not covered). Facet uses Stripe Connect Standard for content sales. Your customers' cards are processed by Stripe under your own Stripe account. Stripe sets its own processor rate (currently around 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction for US cards, with international and subscription surcharges). Stripe bills you directly. Facet has no visibility into or control over that rate, and we cannot promise it will not change. If Stripe raises its fees, your cost of using Stripe goes up. Facet's own fee does not.
- Facet's own subscription pricing (separate). Your monthly $15 Pro or $29 Creator subscription is a plan fee for using Facet Cloud. It is not a content-sale fee. This promise is about content-sale fees only. Subscription pricing changes would follow the plan-change terms in our Terms of Service and would not affect your current plan while you remain on it.
3. Why We Can Make This Promise
Facet runs on a shared-server architecture in Hetzner Helsinki. Our per-customer infrastructure cost is low enough that we do not need to re-rate fees to stay sustainable. A platform that fundamentally needs more fee revenue at scale is a platform that will take more of your money at scale. We would rather commit to a number and grow carefully than leave the door open and break the promise later.
4. Grandfathering
Grandfathering applies to the specific plan you are on. If you are on Pro today, your Pro platform fee is locked at 5% while you stay on Pro. If you move to Creator, Creator's current 1% applies. If we later introduce a different plan with different fees, your existing plan is unchanged. Downgrades, cancellations, and resubscriptions reset to the then-current plan rate.
5. Relation to the Terms of Service
This page is the customer-facing summary of the platform-fee commitment. The binding form of this commitment lives in our Terms of Service. In the event of any conflict, the Terms of Service govern.
